Black Gay Men of the South

Based on Johnson's interviews of more than 70 Black gay southern men, Sweet Tea explores the relationship between Blackness, sexuality and southern life.
Nominated for the Black Theatre Alliance Awards
The World Premiere of Sweet Tea was produced in May 2010 by Jane M. Saks, the Ellen Stone Belic Institute for the Study of Women & Gender in the Arts & Media, and About Face Theatre.
This Special Production is presented in partnership with the Ellen Stone Belic Institute for the Study of Women & Gender in the Arts & Media, Columbia College Chicago, allgo, a Statewide queer people of color organization and the John L. Warfield Center for African and African American Studies
