Ahlan wa Sahlan wa MarHaban bi-kum to the official website for the Center for Arabic Study Abroad (CASA).

CASA offers advanced level training in Arabic language and culture to qualified American students at The American University in Cairo. Applicants to the various CASA programs must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and with a minimum of 3 years of formal instruction in Arabic prior to joining CASA. Our website provides detailed information regarding the various aspects of the CASA programs. We welcome you to visit the site and learn more about the exciting programs CASA offers.  If you have questions after reviewing the site, please contact the CASA administrative office located at the University of Texas at Austin.

Dear CASA Fellows, Parents and Staff,

Due to the recent protests across the Middle East, CASA is working together with Emergency Management teams from The American University in Cairo (AUC) and The University of Texas at Austin to check on the validity of information being received from various sources concerning Cairo, Egypt and to communicate timely Student Advisory Updates with our fellows.

CASA shares all concerns regarding each fellows' safety while studying abroad and understands the anxiety caused by recent events in Egypt.  CASA staff is working diligently to keep a close eye on the developing events and to advise students on the latest security updates regarding the current situation.  For more information on what is being shared with our fellows, please see the links below.

EMERGENCY ADVISORY UPDATES-The American University in Cairo

Rest assured that CASA, AUC, and UT-Austin has the security and safety of each student as the highest priority at all times.  Students and staff are working together to keep lines of communication open to receive security updates and to avoid areas identified with high protest activity.  CASA is prepared with emergency contact information for each fellow in Cairo, each fellow has been provided with the names and numbers of emergency contacts in Cairo, and CASA is prepared with an emergency response plan, should current events make it necessary.
