“¿A qué le tiras cuando sueñas mexicano?”: The Intellectuals in Exile and the Disillusionment of the Mexican Revolution in Early Mexican-American Novels.
One of the major impacts of the Mexican Revolution on the U.S.-Mexico borderlands was the migration of peasants and intellectuals who lived in exile during the revolutionary upheaval. This portfolio plática by Karla González examines how Mexican intellectuals interpreted the Revolution in a transnational context and portrayed their perspective and disillusionment in early Mexican-American novels.
Karla González is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese with a Graduate Portfolio in Mexican American Studies. The co-chairs of her dissertation committee are Jossiana Arroyo Martínez, Associate Professor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese and John Morán González, Associate Professor in the Department of English.
