"Bringing the 'Story of El Salvador' to Dallas: Salvadorans in the Central American Solidarity Movement"
This graduate portfolio plática by Claudia P. Rueda focuses on the history of the Central American Solidarity Movement as it operated in Dallas, Texas in the 1980s. The talk is based on Rueda's masters thesis research and highlights the participation of Central Americans in the movement and the ways in which they helped galvanize opposition to the Cold War policies of the United States under President Ronald Reagan.
Claudia P. Rueda is a doctoral candidate in the Department of History with a Graduate Portfolio in Mexican American Studies. Her disseration supervisor is Virginia Garrard-Burnett, Professor in the Department of History.
