The Center for Mexican American Studies will host a serigraph exhibition during the fall semester 2012. The exhibit will consist of a select group of works produced by the Serie Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fine art screenprinting. This exhibition consists of works from the latest Serie XIX by Ruth Buentello, Melanie Cervantes, Adriana Corral, Jessica Halonen, and George Rivera. Also on view will be the most recent Serie print by the renowned artist Vincent Valdez and two prints by Sam Coronado, the founder and executive director of the organization. The pieces in this exhibition raise both technical and artistic questions from a wide range of topics such as family dynamics, Chicana feminism, the pharmaceutical industry, war, Mayan imagery, mariachi culture, and more. The exhibition runs from September 1, 2012 to December 1, 2012. Call (512) 471-4557 for more information.
