CMAS Announces 2012 CantoMundo Poetry Workshop & Retreat
Posted: June 1, 2012
More than 20 nationally recognized Latina/o poets from across the United States will gather in Austin, Texas on Thursday, July 12 for the 2012 CantoMundo Poetry Workshop & Retreat. These poets, along with guest poets Roberto Tejada and Aracelis Girmay, will present their work in the Auditorium (Room 1.402) of the Student Activity Center (SAC) on the campus of The University of Texas at Austin on Friday, July 13, 2012, and Saturday, July 14, 2012. The readings are scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.
These public readings are being hosted by CantoMundo, a national poetry workshop dedicated to supporting and developing Latina/o poetics. CantoMundo provides a space where Latina/o poets can nurture and enhance their poetics; lecture and learn about aspects of Latina/o poetics currently not being discussed by the mainstream publishers and critics; and network with peer poets to enrich and further disseminate Latina/o poetry.
