More than 20 nationally recognized Latina/o poets from across the United States will gather in Austin, Texas for CantoMundo 2014.

CantoMundo is a national organization dedicated to supporting and developing Latina/o poets and poetry. CantoMundo provides a space where Latina/o poets can nurture and enhance their poetics; lecture and learn about aspects of Latina/o poetics currently not being discussed by the mainstream publishers and critics; and network with peer poets to enrich and further disseminate Latina/o poetry.

Eleven of the participating poets, along with an award-winning guest poet Lorna Dee Cervantes, will present their work in the Black Box Theater of the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center (600 River Street, Austin, Texas) on Friday, July 11, 2014.

Twelve of the participating poets, along with an award-winning guest poet Rafael Campo, will present their work in the Black Box Theater of the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center (600 River Street, Austin, Texas) on Saturday, July 12, 2014.

Both events are scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. and are free and open to the public. A booksigning, sponsored by Resistencia Bookstore, will follow each public reading.
