Moscow Plus
Sponsored by American Councils of Teachers of Russian
The Slavic Department offers intensive summer Russian courses for students at all levels -- including students with no Russian. Moscow Plus focuses on increasing functional proficiency in the language and immersion in culture. Students gain skill and confidence in speaking and listening outside the classroom. First- and second-year students earn a full year of Russian credit in 10 weeks by taking the first half of the course at UT-Austin in Summer Session I, followed by the second half at Moscow International University (MIU) during Summer Session II. Students who have completed at least 2 years of Russian can take "Bridge Course: Culture in Context," two 3-hour courses in Moscow during Summer Session II, only. Russian language and culture courses are taught by MIU faculty on M-TH for 4 hours a day. Students are also paired with Russian peer tutors to assist with coursework and help immerse them in the local culture. A full time UT Resident Director staffs the program in Moscow.
