Course Description

This course focuses on the analysis of different aspects of religion from a geographical perspective, including such topics as diffusion of religions, relationship between environmental modification and religious systems, production of and representation in religious landscapes, pilgrimages, interaction between ethnic identity and religious affiliation and some other issues. The course is comprehensive in its scope and will concentrate on major world religions, like Buddhism, Christianity, and Islam, as well as on ethnic religious systems, including Hinduism, Taoism, Shintoism, varieties of Lamaist Buddhism, and Shamanism.

Examinations 50% Term paper 30% Oral presentation 20%
