International Education Week

UT Austin is excited to be celebrating International Education Week <http://utiew.wordpress.com/> (IEW) next month from November 15 – 19, 2010. Events will include foreign film nights, country and culture sessions, language sessions, art exhibits, music and dance performances, international cuisine, study abroad sessions, travel sessions, and much more!
CREEES is offering three sessions for UT’s International Education Week:
An Introduction to Russian Culture and Language
CAL 422, 2:00-3:00 p.m. Hosted by the Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies (CREEES) The largest country in the world with a rich and complex history, Russia offers some of the most exciting and enriching study abroad opportunities. During this session on Russian history, geography, culture, and language, we will discuss what to expect from your stay in Russia and how to make the best of it. Students will get acquainted with the Russian alphabet and key survival phrases, learn more about Russian traditions and arts, and take a virtual journey through Russia’s beautiful expanses, from its major cities to famous lakes and mountains! After the presentation, students who have returned from UT’s Moscow Plus and other programs will share their recent experiences in Russia. Presented by Marina Potoplyak, a Lecturer in the Department of Slavic and Eurasian Studies.
