Described by the director as a ‘feminist western’, the movie scooped the prize for Best Film at the 2012 Cottbus Festival of Eastern European Cinema and is based on the real life story of a Polish woman who sued a supermarket for inhumane treatment. The film features the troubles and dilemmas of the heroine, Halina Radwan and her fight for justice against an unscrupulous, low-cost supermarket-chain. Halina, a single mother, accepts promotion to manageress of the local store, hoping it will lead to greater material success for herself and her daughter.
In Polish with English subtitles.
