4 weeks in Kiev, 4 weeks in Moscow!

The Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies is pleased to announce the launch of a brand new summer study abroad program. This overseas adventure will combine intensive Russian language-learning and cultural immersion, with lectures and excursions that highlight the history, culture, and contemporary politics of Russia and the Ukraine.

Your educational journey will begin in Kiev, the current capital of Ukraine, and the medieval capital of Kieven Rus’—a historical entity claimed by both Russians and Ukrainians. In Kiev students will study Russian at the highly innovative and effective NovaMova International School, while living with Russian-speaking families. Here you will learn about the complicated relationship between Russians and Ukrainians, past and present, as you live for four weeks in Ukraine’s captivating capital city.

From there you will follow the trail of Russian history—by overnight train—to Russia’s late medieval, and current, capital, Moscow. In Moscow, students will live in dorms with Russian roommates and study Russian at the Moscow School of Higher Economics, one of the most prestigious institutions in the Russian Federation. Your intensive language program will continue, supplemented by content-based lectures and excursions in Moscow, where you will be exposed to Russian culture, history, and contemporary issues.

Information session is on Wednesday, January 29th at 3 PM in BUR 231.
