Artemy Troitsky is a celebrated Russian activist, cultural critic, university lecturer and journalist. He is the author of Back in the U. S. S. R. : The True Story of Rock in Russia (1987) and Tusovka: Who's Who in New Soviet Rock Culture (1990), as well as several recent Russian-language volumes on music and culture in Russia. He has lent his voice to the Putin-era culture wars, including the circumstances around the arrest, imprisonment, and recent release of Russian punk band members, "Pussy Riot."

An audio recording of the lecture will be available for anyone who cannot attend the lecture in person.
