1001 Nights Orchestra and Ojala at 7th Annual Central Market Nowruz Festival

H.E.B./Central Market & 1001 Nights Cultural Productions Present the 7th Annual Austin Nowruz Festival!

Welcome to the 7th Annual Austin Nowruz Festival celebrating Persian New Year, the Vernal Equinox, and celebration of Spring around the world which has become a tradition now in Austin, Texas! This year we will feature performances by: 

5:00-5:15 Opening dance: Ravaan Persian Dance Company
5:15-5:30 Behandish Persian Children's Choir 
5:30:-6:30 UT Middle Eastern Ensemble Bereket with a special Iranian music segment
6:30-7 Ravaan Persian Dance Company
7-7:45 1001 Nights Orchestra performing regional music from Southwest Asia, Central Asia and the Caucasus, including a tribute to Afghan music with guest tabla player and student of world renown percussion master Ustad Zakir HussainLauren Checchio
8-8:45 The Persian-Spanish band Ojala performing a fusion of songs from Iran, Venezuela, Mexico and Spain with special guest Venezuelan cuatro virtuoso Victor Villegas

Along with a Haft-Seen table, there will be a special Nowruz menu made for this occasion including sabzi-polo ba maahi (herbed rice with fish), and many side dishes from Iran, Armenia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and more. 
This is a free event (except for food). There will also be a Henna painting booth, and a crayon and drawing table for kids. 

The festival will be held at the North Lamar Central Market, located at 4001 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, TX 78756.
