Thu, September 25, 2014 • 7:30 PM • Marchesa Theater (6226 Middle Fiskville Rd)
We at CREEES are proud to announce the fourth and final film in the Austin Film Society's "Masterpieces of Polish Cinema" series. Each of these films was selected by Martin Scorsese, who said of these films that "there are many revelations in the ‘Masterpieces of Polish Cinema’ series, and whether you’re familiar with some of these films or not, it’s an incredible opportunity to discover for yourself the great power of Polish cinema, on the big screen in brilliantly restored digital masters."
Wojciech Has and Tadeusz Kwiatkowski's "The Saragossa Manuscript" is an amazing film adaptation of Jan Potocki's fantasy-fiction masterpiece of the same name. In this film, an officer fighting in the Napoleonic wars finds an old book that relates his grandfather's story, Alfons van Worden, captain in the Walloon guard. The young man embarks on adventures in the land of demons and the supernatural, but are they reality or illusions?
Admission is free for AFS Love and Premiere members, $5 for students with valid ID and AFS Make and Watch members, and $8 for all other attendees. Tickets can be purchased here.
