Since 1990, Professor Urban has focused his studies on Central European symbolism, specifically the question of decadence. He was curator of a number of exhibitions (including František Kobliha in 1990, Modern revue in 1995, and Karel Hlavácek in 1998).His articles about decadence and symbolism have been
published in magazines in the Czech Republic and abroad and his texts have been included in a number of anthologies and publications. He is currently working on a monograph about Karel Havlícek, one of the main figures of Czech decadence.
