The Texas Language Center is pleased to announce its Professional Development Award recipients for 2012! These awards are made to instructors of languages other than English at UT who are seeking to develop new materials, courses, or methods for teaching their languages, or who may need to attend a conference or purchase materials in order to improve their teaching.
The awards, ranging in value from $200-$1500, will be used to supplement instructor salaries, purchase materials, and/or subvent travel to professional conferences. This year’s recipients from the Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies include the following professors:
- Marina Potoplyak, Lecturer in the Department of Slavic and Eurasian Studies—“Acquisition and Development of Authentic Materials”
- Michael Pesenson, Assistant Professor in the Department of Slavic and Eurasian Studies—“Creating Materials for an Applied Literature Course”
- Bernadeta Kaminska, Lecturer in the Department of Slavic and Eurasian Studies—“Northeast Confrence on Teaching Foreign Languages”
Look for these exciting projects to be profiled in future TLC newsletters and presented in next year’s Language Matters lectures series!
