Timeline for student participation

Proposed Timeline for Student Participation

The first academic year (sophomore):

  • “Diversity and Leadership in a Global Environment” seminar
  • Receive leadership training
  • Intern with a nonprofit  (or other approved) organization
  • Attend a conference
  • Volunteer at approved organizations
  During the second year (junior):
  • Conduct a study, research project, or creative writing component
  • Present at the CWGS Emerging Scholarship Student Conference
  • Attend an out-of-state conference
  • Partner with a UT professor or community leader – ideally with someone in their field or major

**Summer before Senior Year - Volunteer with an international non-profit doing humanitarian aid that specifically supports women

During the third year (senior):

  • Organize a lecture
  • Help organize a leadership institute
  • Attend a leadership conference
  • Completing the circle, the young women themselves serve as mentors
