Course Description
Communication technologies and gender intersect at the notion of power. Applying postmodern ideas about power, this course will examine the social construction of communication technologies as modes of control over behavior, body, and gender. The empowering potential of digital technologies will be discussed as well. Dr Antonova has taught classes and written about the internet and other communication technologies, especially as they relate to issues of power and gender. She has graduate degrees from the Moscow State University and Sofia University, Bulgaria, and has most recently taught at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada .
