Course Description
This course examines major issues in women's physical and mental health within the context of adult psychological development. The course will include a broad definition of women's health that, in addition to traditional reproductive issues, will consider health problems more common in women than in men, such as depression and eating disorders, and the leading causes of death in women, such as coronary heart disease. In addition, the course will include gender influences on health risk behaviors, such as smoking and physical inactivity, and societal influences on women's health through a consideration of social norms and roles.
