WGS 345 • Global Gender Inequality

Course Description

This course is devoted to the study of gender inequality from a global perspective. Attention will be paid to patterns of gender inequality and to women's movements in different cultural contexts. The emphasis is on the interface between gender and social organization, culture and politics. The course covers the legacy of colonialism, the effect of globalization, and the interaction between local/national movements and the international discourse of womens rights.
