Course Description
PLEASE CHECK WITH THE INSTRUCTOR(S) TO ASSURE ACCURACY OF THIS DESCRIPTION DESCRIPTION: This course is an overview of the study of marriages and families in the United States. The course includes such topics as courtship, marriage, parenting, the aging family, and family crises. Emphasis is placed on applying research findings to personal decisions about intimate relationships. COURSE OBJECTIVES: A student who completes this course will be able to: 1. describe concepts used to study the processes that govern marriage and family life; 2. describe important research evidence regarding mate selection; marital interaction, satisfaction, and stability; and family relationships; and 3. apply the content of this course toward an understanding of his/her own dating, marriage, and family experiences and goals.
