Barbara Jordan Statue Rededication
Tue, January 29, 2013 • 6:00 PM • Barbara Jordan Statue
Five years ago, members of three premier University of Texas at Austin student organizations began planning the implementation of the Barbara Jordan statue on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. The erection of the Barbara Jordan Statue was a monumental moment for the campus. The significance of the statue of Barbara Jordan is two fold. On UT’s campus it is the only statue of a woman and an African American woman at that. The statue is dedicated to honoring the life and legacy of the phenomenal Barbara Jordan.
Members of Afrikan American Affairs and the Epsilon Beta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated are collaborating once again to commemorate the fifth year anniversary of the planning of the Barbara Jordan statue on The University of Texas at Austin campus, that eventually led to the erection of the statue in 2009. On January 29th, 2013 Afrikan American Affairs and the Epsilon Beta chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated will host a rededication at the statue as well as a reception to follow the rededication. The program is tentatively scheduled for 6:00 pm at the Barbara Jordan Statue.
