Public Feelings about Katrina

The Public Feelngs research seminar, which operates under the auspices of the Center for the Study of Gender and Sexuality, invites you to an open session to discuss Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath. In other discussions of this kind in the wake of events such as 9/11 and the war in Iraq, our emphasis has been on feelings as much as on thoughts in order to create public space for the fullest possible range of responses. In this case, we would particularly like to focus on the racialized dimensions of the current crisis.
