Professor Amr Shalakany is Assistant Professor of Law at the American University in

Cairo, where he also directs the LL.M program. Before joining AUC, Professor
Shalakany
was the Jeremiah Smith Junior Visiting Assistant Professor at Harvard
Law School,
where he taught Comparative Law and Islamic Law.

He also served as legal advisor to the PLO Negotiations Support Unit in Ramallah
>during the Israeli-Palestinian Peace Process. His publications include "The Origins of

Comparative Law in the Arab World, or how sometimes losing your Asalah can
be
Good for you," in Rethinking Masters of Comparative Law, and "Arbitration
and the
Third World: Bias under the Scepter of Neo-Liberalism," in the Harvard
International
Law Journal.
