Fri, April 13, 2007 • 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM • MEZ B0.306
Song Lyrics: "Get up mari Dudu, get up! Tie your village apron around your waist! Make coffee for the men Make the beds and lie down"

This presentation considers these questions in light of recent emergent political discourses imposed via the European Union accession process in Turkey.
Sonia Seeman is an assistant professor at UT in musicology/ethnomusicology with a joint appointment in the Center for Middle Eastern Studies, and an affiliate with the Women and Gender Studies Center.
