Research interests:Lisa J. Cary is an assistant professor in Curriculum Studies, in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, at the University of Texas at Austin. She teaches advanced graduate courses in postmodern analytical methods in qualitative research and Curriculum Studies. She also teaches foundational courses, such as, a doctoral course entitled Introduction to Systems of Human Inquiry and an undergraduate course on the sociocultural influences on learning. Her current work focuses on using postmodern curriculum theories to inform educational research in Curriculum Studies. She highlights epistemology, discourse, exclusions (e.g., race, class, gender, and sexuality), and power/knowledge in her work by drawing upon postcolonial and poststructural feminist theories. She has worked in educational settings in Australia, Canada and the United States of America.
