Student Journal: Intersections

Founded in 2003, Intersections (formerly Women’s and Gender Studies in Review across Disciplines) is an interdisciplinary graduate student peer-reviewed publication affiliated with the Center for Women’s and Gender Studies. We seek to generate awareness about and fluency across interdisciplinary research in women’s and gender studies across the UT campus. We see the space of the journal as an extension of the Center for Women’s and Gender Studies for dialogue about and development of feminist theories and practices. We encourage UT graduate student scholars in every field to contribute book reviews, scholarly essays, creative writing, and artwork relating to the annual themes, and we include a cross-section of these genres in each issue. With attention to the continuing unequal status of women in academia, each issue also includes a concluding piece from a UT woman professor speaking to her experience as a woman in the academy. As a collectively-run organization, each editorial board solicits applications for new editors and managing editors in the fall and elects new board members for the following year. We release one issue each year in the fall and follow the release with a program series to foster dialogue around the publication and among the community of feminist scholars that the publication connects and serves.
