HendlerLaw is proud to congratulate firm partner Lulu Flores on her selection as the National Latina Lawyer of the Year by the Hispanic National Bar Association.
The Hispanic National Bar Association recognized and honored Lulu at its National Conference in Minnesota during the Latina Lawyer Commission Luncheon on September 9, 2010. Former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor will be the keynote speaker. The award was presented at the Conference closing gala the evening of Saturday, September 11, 2010.
Lulu has long been committed to Hispanic and women's issues and the fight for equality. Currently, she serves as President of the National Women's Political Caucus. During law school she worked for the first Hispanic woman ever elected to the Texas House of Representatives and helped her draft and pass the state's first domestic violence legislation. Lulu demonstrates her commitment to these causes by serving continually on volunteer boards; seven years with the local chapter of Planned Parenthood, three years with the Battered Women's Center and many years with the Women''s Advocacy Project (serving several years as Chair). An active member of the Bar, she has also served as President of the Austin Hispanic Bar Association and President of the Mexican American Bar Association of Texas, and she is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation.
Lulu also serves on the board of Mexic-Arte Museum of Austin, the official Mexican and Mexican-American Fine Art Museum of Texas.
She speaks both Spanish and Italian and has been a mentor to a family of four young Latina sisters for several years.
HendlerLaw congratulates Lulu on this most prestigious award for her selfless public interest work on behalf of women and young girls and the Hispanic community. You can email Lulu directly at Lulu(at)hendlerlaw(dot)com.
