China Seminar: Zhang Renshan

On Monday, November 30, 2009, Professor Zhang Renshan of Nanjing University will be presenting a lecture on "Law, Culture, and Society in Modern China: Dilemmas and Solutions" from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. in GAR 1.134. Professor Zhang is one of the leading scholars in legal and social history in the PRC. His books include Falü shehui shi de shiye(Perspectives in legal and social history) (Beijing: Law Press, 2007); Sifa fubai yu shehui shikong (Judicial corruption and social disorder in China, 1928-1949) (Beijing: Social Science Press, 2004); and Li fa shehui: Qingdai falü zhuanxing yu shehui bianqian (Etiquettes, law, and society: Legal transformation and social change in Qing China) (Tianjin: Tianjin Press,2001). Currently a visiting professor at St. Joseph's University, Professor Zhang teaches at the Law School of Nanjing University
and the Hopkins-Nanjing Center for Chinese and American Studies.
