Dr. Traphagan to lead JAWS
Posted: March 23, 2010
Professor John Traphagan was elected Secretary General of the Japan Anthropology Workshop at the 2010 conference, held at the University of Texas at Austin in March. He takes over the post from Lola Martinez.
JAWS is was founded as a meeting place for the growing, but largely isolated, band of anthropologists of Japan to get together and exchange ideas. It holds major thematic conferences every eighteen months as well as small workshops and seminars at locations across the globe. The last conference was centered around the theme, "Religion, Ritual, and Identity in Japan."
The Center for East Asian Studies extends its congratulations to Professor Traphagan for his new, prestigious position.
