Posted: November 7, 2006

Our speaker, Bill Emmott, lectured on the implications of Japan's recent economic resurgence and assertive foreign policy for international relations in East Asia.

Bill Emmott recently stepped down as editor-in-chief of The Economist after thirteen years of service, and is now an independent author and lecturer. He has written numerous books, including several on Japan, and is now researching a book on the emerging relationship between China, Japan and India. The webcast version of Mr. Emmott's lecture can be accessed at http://www.utexas.edu/lbj/webcasts/ view.php?m=40

Our next distinguished speaker will be Stephen Bosworth, former ambassador to South Korea and dean of the Fletcher School at Tufts University. On April 16, Dean Bosworth will discuss contemporary developments on the Korean peninsula. In fall 2007, Robert Hormats, vice-chairman of Goldman Sachs, will speak on China.
