Capstone Deadline Dates

Deadlines for each part of the Spring 2012 Capstone are listed below. Dates must be met by each student. There will be no exceptions made on deadlines.

Mandatory Orientation: January 18, 2012 4:00 p.m., UTC 3.112.
Workshops held at 3:30 p.m. on the dates indicated below in FAC 211. 

Semester before

Student should be reading and taking notes for her or his Capstone topic; make initial contact with potential supervisor.

Fall 2011

Proposal Forms for Fall 2011 EUS 375 must be approved by the Program Coordinator, Sally Dickson, and turned into the Center (Mezes Hall 3.126.) Forms can be found at the Center and on the CES website. Please note that you must have your advisors signature prior to meeting with Sally.

January 18, 2012

Students who are registered for or planning to register for EUS 375 must attend a mandatory orientation session. The session will be held January 18 at 4:00 p.m. in UTC 3.112.

January 20, 2012

Last day of the official add/drop period. After this date, you must meet with your advisor in person to be able to register for the course after you receive approval from the Center.

Before February 1

Planned schedule of meetings with advisor must be turned into the Center in writing by your advisor if different than default (one hour per week.).

February 1, 2012

No application forms will be accepted after 3:00 p.m. on the twelfth class day. Students who have not turned in a completed and approved Proposal Form to the Center will not be able to register for the Capstone that semester.

February 3, 2012

Mandatory Workshop: How to Write a Research Paper/Overview (Nothing Due)
3:30 p.m. Undergraduate Writing Center (FAC 211)

All semester

The student is responsible for working independently and meeting with advisor according to the predetermined schedule.

February 17, 2012

Confirm name of the second reader and send information to CES.

March 2, 2012

Mandatory Workshop: Due: Annotated Bibliography and Working Outline
3:30 p.m. Undergraduate Writing Center (FAC 211)

April 6, 2012

Mandatory Workshop: Due: Rough Draft of Paper
3:30 p.m. Undergraduate Writing Center (FAC 211) 

April 13, 2012

Turn in a complete first draft to your supervisor.

April 25, 2012

Turn in fully revised draft to both readers.

April 27, 2012

Mandatory Workshop: Due: Working Draft of Paper (should be close to completion) 3:30 p.m. Undergraduate Writing Center (FAC 211) 

May 4, 2012

Turn in a copy of your final paper to your advisor and second reader. Also turn in one copy of your final paper along with your Faculty Record Form to the Center. (Mezes 3.126) All papers must be turned in by 5:00 p.m. on this day. NO EXCEPTIONS ON THE DEADLINE WILL BE MADE.

Finals week

European Studies Capstone Presentations. Attendance is required and students must attend all presentations. Students present their research and conclusions to other European Studies students, CES faculty, and friends.
