Workshop for Texas Educators: At the Crossroads: Integrating the Balkans into the European Union
Tue, November 16, 2010 • 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM • Texas Union, 3.116 Texas Governors' Room, UT Austin Campus
The Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies and the Center for European Studies present:
At the Crossroads: Integrating the Balkans into the European Union
A workshop for Texas Educators
Several Balkan States are eligible to apply for European Union membership, but thus far Slovenia is the only Balkan country to have achieved member status. What challenges do the other Balkan countries still face, and what advantages would they see as EU members? Who is moving towards economic stabilization and regional cooperation, and who is struggling with reconstruction and their war-torn past?
CREEES and the Center for European Studies are offering a one-day workshop for Secondary School educators. At this workshop, UT professors will discuss the history of the European Union and the current progress of several countries towards integration, and then explore ways to incorporate the ideas into curriculum materials for their own classroom use.
The workshop will be held on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. Registration is free and includes handouts, parking, lunch, and snacks. Registration is limited to 25 teachers on a first-com, first-served basis.
Please return the registration form by fax by November 1, 2010.
