Germanic Film Series
Wed, April 29, 2009 • 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM • BUR 337 Conference Room
Shown in two parts, this recent big budget German TV production about the bombing of Dresden during WWII offers an interesting look at how the complex of Nazism and key events of the German war experience are marketed to a contemporary German TV audience.
In January 1945 the young nurse Anna Mauth, working at a hospital in Dresden, falls in love with a British bomber pilot who was shot down and has to live in hiding. The problematic love story unfolds against the backdrop of Anna's father secretly selling the hospital's morphine desperately needed for the wounded, and the cataclysmic destruction of the bombing raid on Dresden.
FREE Admission, all films shown in German with English subtitles, unless indicated! Films are screened Wednesdays at 7:00 pm at BUR 337 (Conference Room)
