Austin Jewish Film Festival: Intimate Grammar
Wed, February 1, 2012 • 7:00 PM - 9:30 PM • Texas Hillel
The third of four screenings in conjunction with the tenth annual Austin Jewish Film Festival.
Coming of age in 1960s Israel, dreamy and sensitive Aharon dreads his impending maturity. After all, Aharon's models for adulthood — his parents, embittered Holocaust survivors — don't present an appealing future. But as his classmates around him hit puberty, Aharon doesn't grow. With his social life and his family in a state of upheaval, Aharon takes drastic measures.
Intimate Grammar is the second feature film from Israeli director Nir Bergman, creator of the Israeli drama series In Treatment. Based on David Grossman's 1994 novel The Book of Intimate Grammar, the film has met acclaim at various international film festivals. The Schusterman Center and Texas Hillel are happy to provide a free screening of this coming-of-age drama.
