Douglas Biow Named New CES Director

Professor Biow (Professor of Italian and Comparative Literature) focuses primarily on the literary, intellectual, and cultural history of Renaissance Italy. He is the recipient of a number of awards, including NEH and Guggenheim Fellowships, and the author of a number of articles and four books, most recently The Culture of Cleanliness in Renaissance Italy (Cornell University Press, 2006) and In Your Face: Professional Improprieties and the Art of Being Conspicuous in Sixteenth-Century Italy (forthcoming Stanford University Press, 2009-10).
