Dr. Cance's career is focused on the prevention and etiology of risk behavior in adolescence and emerging adulthood. She is particularly interested in how the longitudinal interaction of biological, psychological, and social factors impacts adolescent and young adult health risk behaviors, particularly substance use. Her current research has been focused on how, and why, pubertal timing influences substance use in adolescence.
