Chelsea Moore

Chelsea Moore is interested in social mobility and the intergenerational transmission of advantage.  She is particularly interested in the role of occupation in the stratification process and the role occupation plays in the intergenerational transmission of skills and attitudes, and how this differs by race and gender.  Currently, she is looking at the effect of parent occupation, as well as a community’s occupational context, on child academic outcomes, focusing particularly on math and science occupations.  She is also interested in the role of these outcomes in the development of children’s own occupational aspirations.
