Kara is interested in how gender and socioeconomic status affect how families experience and manage domestic violence and stresses from intimate and familial relationships and interactions. She is especially interested in the way that diverse intersections of race, class, and gender can lead to differential access to resources and different support networks for individuals experiencing and coping with domestic violence. She would like to better understand why certain demographic groups fall through the cracks of the social safety net, while others are denied public support entirely, and still others have alternative private and/or individualized resources.
