Biography
Yuka Minagawa is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Sociology and a graduate trainee in the Population Research Center at the University of Texas at Austin. Yuka has developed an active research program focusing on health and mortality differentials across population groups in Eurasia, namely East Central Europe and the former Soviet Union (including the Caucasus and Central Asia). She has also recently extended her work to look at similar issues in Southeast Asia. Her work has appeared in major sociology, demography, and public health journals, such as Social Forces, European Addiction Research, and Demographic Research.
Yuka received a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Studies and Russian Language from Sophia University and a Master of Arts in Regional Studies - Russia, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia from Harvard University.
