Ying-Ting's interests primarily lie in health and demography. She is interested in health disparities due to educational differences. She is working on educational gradient in health for Asian Americans as her dissertation topic. The overall aims of her dissertation are to: 1) identify the relationship between education and health for Asian Americans, with particular attention given to Asian immigrants; 2) examine whether the education gradient in health for Asian Americans is weaker than the education gradient in health for other race and ethnic groups, and if so, to what extent; 3) identify the underlying reasons for a weaker education gradient in health, if it do exist, for Asian Americans. By answering these questions, this dissertation will help us to understand the origin of health disparities and the essence of the relationship between education and health, and make the education-health paradigm more flexible and more sensitive to the context.
