Computing Services
Computing Workshops at the PRC
Computing and Information Services offers a variety of Workshops. The workshops augment the tutorials, hands-on lab sessions, and handouts that are also provided. Some of the workshops deal with the Unix environment at PRC. Others deal with constructing datasets of interest to demographers using SAS. All are tailored to the environment, data and methods at the Population Research Center.
Previous Workshops have included, but are not limited to:
- Introduction to Computing at the PRC
- Unix Commands for PRC Users
- Basic SAS Procedures
- Getting Your Data In and Out of SAS
- Combining SAS Datasets
- Efficient Programming Techniques
- Reading Heirarchical Data
- Creating Multilevel Data
The Workshops are generally offered in the fall semester, and last
approximately an hour and a half. Fliers are posted in the PRC one
week in advance of each class, which typically meet in the 17th
floor Conference Room. Workshops are limited to PRC affiliated students, except by prior
arrangement, and otherwise require no registration.
