Research interests:
Cynthia Buckley's research interests are mainly in the areas of state socialism, gender, population change, and methodology. Her recent publications include: "Ties that Bind: Citizenship and Regionalism in the Russian Federation," (with Regina Smyth) in Fragmented Space: Regionalism in Russia. B. Ruble, N. Popson, and J. Koehn, eds 2001, "Duration or Disadvantage? Explaining Nativity Differentials in Health Profiles" (with J. Angel and A. Sakamoto) in Journal of Gerontology: Social Sciences, and "Nativity and Self-Assessed Health Among Pre-Retirement Age Hispanics and Non Hispanic Whites" (with J. Angel and B. Finch), International Migration Review 2001.
Dr. Buckley is working on a project examining maternal and child health in Central Asia, funded by the William Davidson Institute. She is affiliated with Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies and the Center for Women's and Gender Studies
