John Mirowsky Receives Pearlin Award

John Mirowsky is the 2012 recipient of the Leonard I. Pearlin Award for distinguished contributions to the sociological study of mental health. The award honors a scholar who has made substantial contributions in theory and/or research to the sociology of mental health. Professor Mirowsky studies social aspects of health and well being, particularly as they evolve over the life course. His current research looks at the effects on health and well being of education, employment, economic hardship, age at first birth, neighborhood disadvantage and disorder, and the sense of personal control.
