Course Description

More than perhaps any other city, Jerusalem has prompted the flow of much ink and much blood. It is more than simply a place, more even than a holy place: in Hebrew literature, it is a symbol, a metaphor, and a character as vibrant as any of those humans who populate the pages of fiction. In this course, we will expose the many faces of Jerusalem and discuss the citys hypnotic power over its fictional inhabitants and neighbors, as well as over the authors who create them.
