An in-depth study of Jewish life in the land of Israel during the first 500 years of the Common Era, designed to enrtich our understanding of Rabbinic and New Testament literature. The course will deal with society and social structure, religion, subsistence, education and daily routine. We will compare and contrast Roman matrial culture and values with that of the populations of Judea.
