David Amram, the American composer, musician, conductor, and writer, presents a lecture and a concert.

The 10th Anniversary of the Austin Jewish Film Festival opens with a kick-off celebration concert featuring world-renowned musician David Amram. A celebrated master of jazz, Latin, pan-African, pan-European, Celtic, Middle Eastern, Jewish, Indian, Pakistani, bluegrass, country, Native American, and folk music, Amram is a magnificent performer.

The Boston Globe hailed him “The Renaissance Man of American Music.” He has composed memorable scores for film, theatre and opera, as well as for more than 100 orchestral and chamber music works. He has also conducted more than 70 great symphony orchestras. The Austin Jewish Film Festival is underwriting the concert, so the cost of tickets is only $10!

The Festival’s opening film on Saturday, March 24, at 9 p.m., is “David Amram: The First 80 Years.” The movie will be followed by a question-and-answer session with Amram and director Laurence Kraman.
