Interests
Israeli society and politics, The IDF special-forces, terrorism, counterterrorism, political radicalism.Biography
I am a professor at the Department of Government at the University of Texas at Austin.
My main fields of interest are terrorism, political radicalism, special-forces (especially the IDF) and Israel.
I received my PhD in political science from the University of Haifa in 1999 and started teaching at the same university soon afterwards.
I first came to Texas as a Donald D. Harrington Faculty Fellow in 2004 and joined the faculty of the Department of Government a year later.
Since the early stages of my career I was interested in the Israeli radical right and in the State’s response to it.
Later on I was drawn to studying the causes for terrorism in general and particularly in Israel. At the same time I developed interest in the effectiveness of various counterterrorism policies.
I serve as an associate editor of the journal Studies in Conflict and Terrorism as well as member of the editorial boards of Armed Forces & Society, Terrorism and Political Violence and Civil Wars.
You can find more about me and become my friend in my academia.edu and facebook pages.
