The Department of Classics congratulates doctoral student Chuck Oughton (MA 2011) on winning the University's Foreign Language Teaching Excellence Award for Assistant Instructors.

The award is sponsored by the Texas Language Center and recognizes the special talents required for teaching foreign languages, modern and immortal alike. Instructors are nominated by their students, and recipients are selected by the Center's Advisory Committee: one each for faculty and graduate instructors. Chuck is being honored for his outstanding work in both beginning and intermediate Latin (LAT 507 and 311). He has also taught beginning Greek in the Department's summer intensive program, and he helped build the department's Magistra website, which provides instructional materials for ancient Greek and Latin.
